Required Tax Documents

This page has been developed for you so that you might understand and assemble all of the tax documents that you need to have your taxes prepared and submitted to the various taxing agencies. (Keep in mind that these are not our rules rather the agencies. Refer to Publication 17 of the IRS)

1. INCOME: Any document that shows income, i.e., W2s, 1099INT, 1099DIV, 1099G & 1099MISC. There are several others but again anything that reflects income that you have received. And yes you even need to declare cash that you received.

2. EXPENSES: If you are able to "ITEMIZE" then you will need to show proof of any "Out-of-Pocket" expenses that you are claiming like doctor bills, Rx, large sales tax payments, mortgage & property tax payments (these are usually given to you on form 1098), cash gifts to IRS "approved" 501c3 charties, noncash gifts to Goodwill etc. (You MUST be able to declare original purchase price, how you established value at the time of the gift and photos on larger donations.) We have an organizer to help with these declarations and prior copies of tax returns make the transition easier.
